How to make Money Coding

A lot of folks think that you need to become a software engineer for a company to make money programming but there are so many ways that just aren't as mainstream. So here are five ways to make money without having a programming job.

  1. Freelance on Fiverr

Fiverr is a freelancing website where you can put up gigs and have people pay you to do them. Now there is a lot of competition on Fiverr but if you can make your gig stand out from everyone else's then you can actually make a lot of money. What I did originally made a gig that was like ‘I will make any Python application with GUI.’ The catch was you had to pay extra for the GUI. The best advice for getting off the ground with Fiverr is to make as many gigs as you can and try and stand out.

2. Writing on Medium

Medium is a website where you can make articles and if you join the partner program you can make money when people see your articles. I am not in the partner program but I have some friends who are and you can make some solid money if you put in the work.

3. Local Website Improvements

So you need to know HTML and CSS for this one but you can make a lot of money with it. Look on Google Maps for some businesses near you, then find their website. A lot of small businesses have bad-looking websites and will pay you a sum of money to make them look more modern. A portfolio of previous website designs you have made helps with this.

4.Make an app or game

If you are interested in game dev or app dev and you have a good idea then you can put your game or app on steam or google play store. The part that actually makes you money is if you charge a download fee or if there are in-game purchases.

5. Make a Roblox game

I know this one sounds weird but you can make incredibly simple games with in-game purchases on Roblox and you can make some money. It's surprising how much people will spend on a simple game.

There are a ton of ways to make money coding that I didn't include and you can make a lot of money if you put in the work.
